I’m a skilled woodworker. I built the building that houses my wife’s knitting store, Sutter’s Gold 'n Fleece, and my workshop. I also built cabinets and many pieces of furniture. In retirement, I needed something to do. So, I started to make items for knitters. This expanded into small boxes, bowls and cutting boards. Mostly for my family and friends. Production soon outpaced whom to gift them. “Artistry“ was the answer.
Wood. I see it and start to think how I can make something that brings out the beauty of it. Could it be useful or decorative ? Furniture, decoration, turned, built or just left as is? Oil, wax, poly, epoxy or painted? I look around and see so many possibilities. It’s what I think and dream about.
I’m a self taught woodworker. Books and magazines were my teachers till YouTube came around. But it is in the making that I learn the most. I enjoy making something new, different and last of all - fun to make.
